Everyone needs to understand why we need to get baptized and what happens to us during baptism.
Paul explains in Romans 6 That when we are in the water we are buried with Jesus and when we are raised out of the water we are made to drink the spirit–the Holy Ghost which quickens us and makes us alive. We move from DEATH to LIFE.
YOU can NOT move from LIFE to DEATH so Baptism MUST come first.

Salvation in the N.T. involves baptism into Jesus and the filling of the Holy Ghost.
Having the Holy Ghost come upon you is not the same as having the Holy Ghost in you. Romans 6 – first we die then we are made alive by the quickening of the Holy Ghost. I do not believe that this order can be reversed.

Most people in the religious world do not understand the plan of salvation. Did you know that you are not saved until after you are baptized. Read Acts 2:38 and 2:47 because in Acts 2:38 we need our sins removed (remission of sin) before the Holy Spirit can dwell in you. And then the LORD adds you to the church. That discounts some one joining a church. I cant just wake up one day and say I am going to join the Jundanian family, I have to be born into the family.

I’m going to try & respond to what I understand. Your worries are ill placed and kinda juvenile like. The eunuch was baptised. Romans 10 talks about baptism. If I were you I would not take chances. If you wait til u get sick to accept christ who needs you. You did all your dirt now u laying up u think Christ wants you. Sure he does. But you still gotta put on Christ in baptism. Don’t quote scriptures unless u can understand them.
Interesting thought Derik. while i have been out of this religious thing a bit- I do know that your concern is pointless. All the what ifs. Do you remember the parable of the bride groom. You have to have oil in your lamp. You jumping on a crashing plane and u have heard the gospel already means u did not have oil in your lamp and u will be hell bound. The Nicene Creed: “We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.” This is right out of Acts 2:38.
I hate to break it to you guys, but the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church, the Methodist Church, the Lutheran Church, the (non-cultic) Church of Christ / Disciples of Christ / Christian Church and the United Church of Christ are all in agreement on this.

What happens if an individual finds the Lord through scripture but is in a location that will not allow baptism. Is that individual saved before baptism or is he a lost sould until he is baptized.
i liek your post a friend from COC showed me scriptures too saying that Baptism is required for salvation adn trust me i made sure she showed the verses. i mean we dont deserve our salvation, but we are respond to teh Gift Christ gave us but being baptised which peter commanded for the remission of sins and gift of hte Holy Spirit
I hope it’s ok for me to jump in; I was reading through some of the comments. I have to ask those who teach baptismal regeneration what they do with the thief on the cross, who obviously wouldn’t have been baptized. It appears that he is the only one who would therefore be saved by faith in Christ alone??

Immersion is the real baptism. Actes 8:38 et it’s only pour adultes Actes 8:38; Actes 22, 16; etc. The word baptism is from the Greek word Baptizo which means only to immerse.
Baptism is essential to salvation, put in it’s propre perspective. It comes after belief and repentance and confession and then baptism. In every bible conversion, you will not have all these elements at one time, you will however see everytime baptism. Sometimes it is repent and be baptized like in Actes 2:38, to repent it is naturally logical that to be in the repenting biblical state you have to have a biblical belief; so the pattern is this, Romains 10, 17 So faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So here is where it starts, then the grain of faith starts growing, (not saved yet), then you repent Luke 13:3, 5 then commes confession that you believe in Jesus. Actes 8, 37 I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Then comes immersion( of adultes for the remission or pardon of their sins) Actes 2, 38 Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for (eis, greek word is for in this context) the remission (aphesis (remission is forgiveness, because once your sins are remitted they are no longer there! Logical isn’t it) of sins (hamartia)
The answers now the the preceding four (4) questions are :

Eis is for and not eis to or and especially not ek = which is because of or any other explanation. Some translators have tried to replace eis which in the context is FOR because they don’t like what the Bible affirms, and that the Bible says in this verse, that repentance and baptism is FOR the remission of sins. Believe the Bible and not Baptist or Pentecostal or any human traditions, or creeds. Your eternal life depends on your obeying the true message, not the false gospel that is parading around. Obey God and not man.
