I think it was a REME Sergeant about 1973/74

  • 1PHYCHO1 says:

Does anyone know who the soldier was?

  • mayhem380 says:

This song commemorates a brave soldier who laid down on a bomb to protect the innocent people. As said in the song, he gave his life to those who called him murderer not friend.

Being politically correct is a waste of time.

Get over yourselves… life hurts sometimes, and you can’t shelter humanity from pain.

This is a great song, and the soldier should be remembered.

i first heard this song in the late 1970′s, it’s a shame that the only thing that has changed since then is that the place where our soldiers are dying is afghanistan instead of ireland

Sgt mike willetts was a true hero, on the grounds that he didnt have to do what he done, were the irish people cowering behind mike or did he shield them with his body? make your own mind up.

    FlyingNinja you almost right
The soldier evacuated the building from a bomb but the door would not lower the explosion enough for the crowds so he lay on the bomb.
And the crowd did spit on his remains
