how can evangelist christians who are against abortion support the war in iraq?

A question from a reader: is the life of a soldier not as valuable as a fetus? please explain?
how can you say that handing a soldier a submachine gun and murdering people is protecting life? are you insane?
it has to do with the war and with abortion and is relevant. if you don’t believe me, see the movie jesus camp. people who are pro-life and pro-war? how is this possible?

  • Ziggy says:

In both cases, we are protecting life. Look beyond the CBS news about the war — we are protecting the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the Arab world.

  • E. F. Hutton says:

The same way they can murder an abortion doctor and call it justified.
Soldiers are expendable as long as they’re killing the “enemy.”

  • Leroy says:

This question has nothing to do with the war? You opinion is a fraud.

  • DARKNIGHT-SILVERLIGHT says:

They are lost and deceived by wickedness. There are those that stand alone in a world of lies and deceit. Behold the DARKNIGHT with the SILVERLIGHT!

That’s a good question, scarletm–I’ve wondered the same thing myself, about evangelist christians (the ones who are against abortion but support the war).

And it’s not just 4,000 US soldiers that have died. Our US bombs have killed 10,000s (some studies say 100,000s) of innocent Arab men, women and children.

…and these numbers say nothing of the 100,000s that have been permanently maimed, or have lost loved ones, or of the 4.5 million Iraqi refugees that have been forced to leave their homeland and are living on the charity of other countries (the US has taken in fewer than 1,000 Iraqi refugees, by the way–we can’t admit we might have ‘lost’ this war).

I also wonder why it’s the TX evangelical christians, some of them friends of mine [I'm visiting former home TX now] who are the most gung ho about the death penalty. Don’t the 10 Commandments ‘Command,’ “Thou Shalt Not Kill”?
Why aren’t evangelical christians out there protesting the death penalty in the name of God and the Bible?
