How can God allow children to die young?

A question from a reader: If God sees free choice as the most important element in human beings because they have to make a free choice for or against God: how can the death of a young child ever be accounted for?
A young child cannot choose for and certainly not against God.
Does its life not count? Does God only use its life for other goals?

The Bible God allows priests to molest kids under his nose in his own house of worship — his love for kids is also evidenced by the starving children in Africa.
having cancer is a choice
if a child dies at ten, then they are saved 70 years of woe.
We are spun into this world and wel live how we live. God does not control us…until and if we let Him
The biblical god has been known to kill children for stuff their parents did.
Because of reasons
What about the children being abortioned?
what crime could all of the babies in Noah’s world have committed so atrocious that God had to drown them all?
We are all born with a purpose and each of us fulfill that purpose before we die or even through our deaths. Young children have lived their lives and fulfilled their purpose and as innocents most assuredly return to God. There are reasons and beauty we cannot see in all things.

We are going to continue existing for millions of years after our physical death. Dying young is not a curse. It is a blessing. The child has no opportunity to offend like we have had.
The death iof a child is tragic. But we all must die at some age due to Adam’s disobedience. Even the Son of God had to die because He was born of Adam’s seed.
God made Adam and his seed to live forever until Adam sinned and brought death intio the world. All children die in innocence and therefore go immediately into the presence of God and the angels. That’s quite a blessing.
It’s how life works.
God does not use the deaths of children to account for non believers . Small children dying is a sad thing we cannot prevent and nor does God target a specific child to be ill, it is luck of the draw, i could never smoke but get cancer, but it wouldnt be God who gave me cancer,’thats life’.
What makes you think that God has anything to do with it? He doesn’t. He has plenty to do with restoration and even healing; not death. The only death God has any part in is the destructive judgment He brings upon those who actively oppose Him and directly interfere with His plans.
Young child — old child… It makes no difference.
None of us chose to be here.
If you assume death is just the end of existence, then you end up with all of us dead, and so it really doesn’t make a speck of difference in the end. Some die young, some die middle-aged, some die old, some die in bed, some die in their car, etc.
It’s all the same in the end.
However, if you believe that death is not the end, then dying young may be a kind of blessing, as you on to the next level that much sooner.
EVERY person dies….. EVERYONE’S children die….. some young… some old….. but EVERYONE is someone’s child….
~~~~how can the death of a young child ever be accounted for?~~~~
well… according to “whose” definition????
yours?? mine?? Stalin’s?? the Pope’s?? or…. GOD’S?????????
So what your saying is that “god” should make children immortal until they reach a certain age… and then allow them to die
Only time I question dying is when its assisted with unnecessary suffering…. Everybody time comes….
Im not a religious person so I dont blame a god for children’s death…. a child dying is just a sad misfortunate event…. and thats it
Because God doesn’t exist.
Do I win?
When God creates life, He and He alone can place the purpose for that specific creation of a human being. When He wills to take the life of a young child, it could be an act of mercy that the child do not need to suffer like the rest of us in this world and enjoy perfect happiness with Him in heaven immediately.
i think the most reasonable answer would be that we are the people that choose before we come here. this is how it would work. as a soul we decide the obstacles in our life that will help us learn. we pick whether we grow into an abusive family etc. if you look at god as our souls parent i think it makes sense. a parent doesnt want the child to get hurt but he must allow the child to experience life.even if the child gets hurt.
Apparently when something bad happens it isn;t God’s fault its the Devil’s work, or its bad people doing bad stuff because of free will. But when something great happens, like an entire nation is freed from a dictator and millions of lives are saved then its God.
well the only way it would make sense would be if god wasnt all good like the bible says. As a matter of fact, the only way for him to be perfect would be for him self to have no personality traits or physical characteristics what so ever. basically, the christian god cant exist.
You can either praise God for the life lived, though short, or you choose to curse God. The choice is yours and yours alone.
The bible explains that in the beginning of humanity, mankind was givin the oppurtunity to exercise their God-Givin freewill to decide for themselves what they think is right and quickly began living in the contrary to the instructions of God and reaping the consquences of sin.
Breaking Gods laws is a sin.
As a result…. Man sufffers and dies including the innocent.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death”
Proverbs 16:25 KJV
“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; there shall be no death, sorrow, crying, pain: for the former things are gone..”
Revelation 21:4
…A basic reason most christians would say alongside freewill
I don’t know about other gods, my goddess never claimed to be nice, even to the innocent. However, she has made it clear that she is fair. Those who pass early from this life have done so for a reason and will return when the time is right. Her reasons for taking a child are not explained to us, but then again, she doesn’t explain anything to us nor does she account to us. She can be cruel, but she is not unjust.
Egotistical man has a tendency to blame someone or something for the injustices we perceive on this earth. Who is responsible? No one and everyone. To humanize God, is to it give all of the failings man has exhibited since his existence.
why would you think the atonement of christ is not specifically designed for young children?
read the book of mormon! clearly infant baptism is taught to be an abomination.
it most certainly denies the atonement of christ.
This question misses the point completely. god works in often incomprehensible ways. I would suggest reading the book of Job. every bad thing that happens is not necessarily a punishment. Bad things that happen to good people aren’t necessarily proof that Christianity and other theist religions are false and it’s foolish to think that is.
I don’t think young children/infants are held accountable for sin. They aren’t mentally developed enough to understand it nor can they ask for forgiveness. God takes that into account.
Maybe in some ways they’re better off. They get to go to Heaven without all the temptations and troubles adults go through to get there. Just one way of looking at it.
Because he doesn’t exist. Simple isn’t it.
I don’t believe that God interferes in our lives unless we ask him to. We are given a life to live and it happens; good and bad. At the end we will be judged for our actions. How can be be judged fairly if God is constantly interfering? So what about the starving millions or people around us in need? That is our responsibility to sort out. Jesus was clear on the subject. Help those in need and love your neighbour. What happens to a child that dies young? They have eternal life in heaven.
We don’t chose to be born and we don’t chose to die, these are in God’s plan. We all have a number and when it is up it is up.
what is the difference of 50 years to a being that is infinite and omniscient?
Death appears meaningful and an end for us. that is simply a figment of our limited perception.
perhaps one should appriciate that the life was had for that time, rather than complain that it was not had for longer.
if you look at life, existence, as a gift, then having it for even a short time is better than none at all.
if you gave someone a wonderful gift… how would you feel if they complained that you did not give them more?
Either “He” isn’t there. or “He” doesn’t care…
What is the difference? Fetus, Baby, Child, Young Adult, Adult or someone old? Why not ask him when you see him? I cannot comment on God, because he is far superior to me in every way. The unborn are aborted not because of God, but because of governments, babies are sometimes born with birth defects or die at the hands of a murderer, or accident. Child, accidents or child abuse. Young adults, drugs, liquor,
decease, accidents. Adult, Decease, accidents, murder, war, suicide.
Old people: Worn out by life, decease. Medical mistakes.
It is quite easy to blame God for everything.
I am a little shocked to see answers like this:–
“Dying young is not a curse. It is a blessing. The child has no opportunity to offend like we have had.”
“All children die in innocence and therefore go immediately into the presence of God and the angels. That’s quite a blessing.”
Because if you follow this line of thinking, then child-murderers would be doing the child a favour.
From a religious perspective though, God is the dispenser of both life and death. There is even one Biblical story in which he sends a plague to kill all the children of Egypt, and of course, he sent the Great Deluge to destroy all of mankind (children and all), and in yet another story he gave the Devil permission to slay all the children pious Job.
So when you ask “Does God only use its life for other goals?” I would have to answer yes.
The problem with God is that he is the God of nature. And nature can be indiscriminately cruel.
In the Old Testament this is not so much a problem, because God is remote and does not pay much attention to the lives and deaths of individuals. But in the New Testament he becomes a personal God, and watches over each individual, posing an enormous problem when you ask questions about the death of children.
Even the unborn child is loved by god. After all we are all his
children. And taking the life of a child on this earth maybe his blessing
for them even tho we may see it differently at the time. Pain ,suffering,
It is heart sickening when a child is suffering. Or anyone for that matter. even a animal. And then its our suffering after the loss that is
devastating for the rest of our days.I wonder how god felt when his son was suffering on that cross? Do you think he cried. I think so.And then he let him pass onto him.
“Dying young is not a curse. It is a blessing.”
/quote
Really, ya, what a blessing for torture/murder child victims of Westley Allen Dodd, Charles N, Leonard Lake, etc…
Hi, I believe that it is a blessing that children die because God took them to heaven in order to keep them clean and unspotted from the evil world that there are many evil and cruel people. Children, who died become angels of God. That’s the wonders of God, and yet God is real.
Dying young a blessing??????
I pitty those who are crazy enough to believe such a thing, dying young is simply a tragidey regarless of circumstances.
For those who believe it is such a blessing, do you also pray for young loved ones in your family to die?
Think about what your actually saying before you write, cause I pray no one is that crazy to believe this nonsense
