How does “Mormon” doctrine contradict the Bible?

How does “Mormon” doctrine contradict the Bible?
I’m puzzled by the claim that the things taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka: Mormons) contradicts the Bible. I’m LDS and I use both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. How can what we teach contradict the Bible when we use the Bible to teach it?

It only contradicts certain people’s interpretations of the Bible.

Seeing as how the bible is merely a collection of documents that a group of men with power collected in order to sell their particular brand of morality and ethics… I’d say the book of mormon fits right in.

  • Marysia says:

the book of mormon and john smith have taken the bible and enhanced it with their own “prophecy”. this is where i believe the challenges lie. the whole crux of the “baptizing for the dead” and obtaining kingship/lordship over ones own planet….. that’s a little contradictory to the bible.

  • Andrew C says:

    The Bible teaches the trinity.

  • John m says:

It does not, people who say that misunderstand what the bible says and probably have very little knowledge of mormon doctrine. Remember Joseph Smith did not change anything he only restored it directly through Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ so how can we really contradict what it says. Keep the Faith.

  • My son the Creation Scientist says:

the mormons are actually very satanic. mormons believe that there was a second “christ” that came and completed the work that Jesus started, even though Jesus said “it is finished” on the cross. Jesus also said that there would be many false christs in the last days and joseph smith is one of them
also: BoM says that… We are saved after all that we can do.

Bible says that… We are saved by Grace through faith, this not of ourselves but a GIFT from God.

  • disciple says:

the book of mormon rejects the trinity and also the fact that joseph smith is a false prophet he has prophesied in the name of god many times and been found false, the bible says that if someone prophesy in the name of god and is found false to mark them a false prophet, why do you want to follow a mans doctrine, why be religious, if you believe the bible why dont you just follow the bible and believe in it and in Jesus, dont be fooled by this extra stuff these men have added. I pray you leave that and pray to God to show you the real truth, seek the word of God and not in their bible either because there are differences to push their views.

  • Betty, Boop Oop A Doop! says:

The Book of Mormon is a contradiction of the Bible in it’s self. Heretic, Infidel, Get ye hence Satan. BB

The BOM says Jesus was born in Jersusalem. It also lifts whole passages out of the KJV, including publishing errors characteristic of a specific edition. Oops.

  • romns_1_16 says:

(Gal 1:8) But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

All man made religions are not authorized by God.

(2Co 6:17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

(1Pe 4:11) If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

(1Co 3:11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

(Mat 15:13) But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

    Denominations causes division.

Co 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1Co 1:11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
1Co 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
(1Co 1:13) Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

Jesus says to Peter that he will build his Church in Mat. 16:18.

Notice that Christ did not say that he would build churches. So we are not authorized to name a church after and act of grace or a mans name or anything else, but only Christ.

(Col 3:17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

(Rom 16:16) Salute one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.

Christ purchased the Church with his own blood according to Acts 20:28.
Does he not deserve to have his name as owning the Church?

In Eph. 1:22-23 that the body is the Church.

(Col 1:18) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

    (Eph 4:4) There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

(Eph 4:5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

(Eph 4:6) One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

(Eph 5:23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

The only way to be saved is to be a member of his body or Church. Also it says that Christ is the husband of the Church. What husband does not want his wife to take on his name?

How do we become part of the body or Church?

(1Co 12:13) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Act’s 2 is when the Church was first started.

(Act 2:38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Act 2:41) Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

(Act 2:47) Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

We are added to the Church and our sins are forgiven when we obey the Gospel, which is defined in 1 Cor 15:1-4 which consists of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

(Act 22:16) And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

(1Pe 3:20) Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

(1Pe 3:21) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

(Joh 3:5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

For those that say pray the sinner’s prayer:

(1Pe 3:12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

If you are unrighteous he will not hear you till you obey the Gospel Romans 1:16.

(Jam 2:14) What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

Gal 3:26-27 We put on Christ when we are baptized.

Romans 6:4 Buried with Christ in baptism.

Leave the shackles of man made religion and be only a Christian.

(Joh 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I’m still working on this, so my conclusions are incomplete. The short answer is that I have not found any place where it does. But the longer answer is that there are places where it should have, but didn’t, as the bible is incorrect. My conclusion so far is that the BoM is drivel, and I cannot understand why anyone with the brains of a gnat would pay any attention to it.
Postscript: I am amused by John M’s claim that Smith didn’t change anything written on the purported plates. How would anyone know this? There is utterly no data as to what was on the plates (if they existed at all) beyond what Smith claimed that they said.

    Galatians 1:6-9
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

I encourage all mormons to ponder these questions…

    1. Why does the Mormon Church still teach that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God after he made a false prophecy about a temple being built in Missouri in his generation (Doctrine and Covenants 84:1-5)?

    2. Since the time when Brigham Young taught that both the moon and the sun were inhabited by people, has the Mormon Church ever found scientific evidence of that to be true (Journal of Discourses, 1870, v.13, p.271)?

    3. Why did Brigham Young teach that Adam is “our Father and our God” when both the Bible and the Book of Mormon (Mormon 9:12) say that Adam is a creation of God (Journal of Discourses, Apr. 9, 1852, vol.1, p.50)?

    4. If Brigham Young was a true prophet, how come one of your later prophets overturned his declaration which stated that the black man could never hold the priesthood in the LDS Church until after the resurrection of all other races (Journal of Discourses, Dec. 12, 1854, 2:142-143)?

    5. Since the Bible’s test to determine whether someone is a true prophet of God is 100% accuracy in all his prophecies (Deuteronomy 18:20-22), has the LDS Church ever reconsidered its teaching that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were true prophets?

    6. Since the current LDS prophets sometimes contradict the former ones, how do you decide which one is correct?

    7. Since there are several different contradictory accounts of Joseph Smith’s first vision, how did the LDS Church choose the correct one?

    8. Can you show me in the Bible the LDS teaching that we must all stand before Joseph Smith on the Day of Judgment?

    Mormon Scripture

    9. Can you show me archeological and historical proof from non-Mormon sources that prove that the peoples and places named in the Book of Mormon are true?

    10. If the words “familiar spirit” in Isaiah 29:4 refer to the Book of Mormon, why do familiar spirits always refer to occult practices such as channeling and necromancy everywhere else in the Old Testament?

    11. Why did Joseph Smith condone polygamy as an ordinance from God (Doctrine and Covenants 132) when the Book of Mormon had already condemned the practice (Jacob 1:15, 2:24)?

    12. Why were the words “white and delightsome” in 2 Nephi 30:6 changed to “pure and delightsome” right on the heels of the Civil Rights campaign for blacks?

    13. If God is an exalted man with a body of flesh and bones, why does Alma 18:26-28 and John 4:24 say that God is a spirit?

    14. Why did God encourage Abraham & Sarah to lie in Abraham 2:24? Isn’t lying a sin according to the 10 commandments? Why did God tell Abraham and Sarah to lie when 2 Nephi 9:34 condemns liars to hell?

    15. Why does the Book of Mormon state that Jesus was born in Jerusalem (Alma 7:10) when history and the Bible state that he was born outside of Jerusalem, in Bethlehem?

    16. If the Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book on earth, as Joseph Smith said, why does it contain over 4000 changes from the original 1830 edition?

    17. If the Book of Mormon contains the “fulness of the everlasting gospel”, why does the LDS Church need additional works?

    18. If the Book of Mormon contains the “fulness of the everlasting gospel”, why doesn’t it say anything about so many important teachings such as eternal progression, celestial marriage, the Word of Wisdom, the plurality of Gods, the pre-existence of man, our mother in heaven, baptism for the dead, etc?

    19. Why do you baptize for the dead when both Mosiah 3:25 and the Bible state that there is no chance of salvation after death?

    20. Since the word grace means a free gift that can’t be earned, why does the Book of Mormon state “for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do” (2 Nephi 25:23)?

    21. Does the LDS Church still regard the Pearl of Great Price as Holy Scripture even after several prominent Egyptologists proved it was an ancient funeral scroll?

    22. Why does the Book of Abraham, chapters 4 & 5, contradict Alma 11 in stating that there is more than one God?

    23. Why does Doctrine and Covenants 42:18 say there is no forgiveness for a murderer when 3 Nephi 30:2 says there is forgiveness for him?

    24. If the Adam-God doctrine isn’t true, how come Doctrine and Covenants 27:11 calls Adam the Ancient of Days which is clearly a title for God in Daniel chapter 7?

    25. Why does the Book of Mormon contain extensive, word-for-word quotes from the Bible if the LDS Church is correct in teaching that the Bible has been corrupted?

    26. Why do the Bible verses quoted in the Book of Mormon contain the italicized words from the King James Version that were added into the KJV text by the translators in the 16th and 17th centuries?

    27. If the Book of Mormon was engraved on gold plates thousands of years ago, why does it read in perfect 1611 King James Version English?

    Bible Questions

    28. If marriage is essential to achieve exaltation, why did Paul say that it is good for a man not to marry (1 Corinthians 7:1)?

    29. Since the Word of Wisdom teaches us to abstain from alcohol, why did Paul encourage Timothy to drink wine for his stomach (1 Timothy 5:23)?

    30. If obeying the Word of Wisdom – which tells us to abstain from caffeine, alcohol and tobacco – is important for our exaltation, why did Jesus say that there is nothing that can enter a man to make him defiled (Mark 7:15)?

    31. If Jesus is the Jehovah of the Old Testament and Elohim is referred to as God in the Old Testament, can you explain Deuteronomy 6:4 to me: “Hear, O Israel: the LORD (Jehovah) our God (Elohim) is one LORD (Jehovah)?

    32. Why does the Mormon Church teach that we can be married in heaven when Jesus said in Matthew 22:30 that in the resurrection men neither marry, nor are they given in marriage?

    33. How can worthy Mormon males become Gods in the afterlife when God already said that before him no God was formed, nor will there be any Gods formed after him (Isaiah 43:10)?

    34. If God had a father who was a God, how come Isaiah 44:8 says that he doesn’t know him?

    35. If God was once just a man who progressed to becoming a God, how do you explain Psalm 90:2: “…even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God”?

    36. How can God be an exalted man when Numbers 23:19 says that God is not a man?

    37. Why does the Mormon Church teach that Elohim had sexual relations with Mary to produce Jesus when both Matthew and Luke teach she was a virgin (The Seer, January, 1853, p.158)?

    38. Why does the LDS Church teach that Jesus paid for our sins in the garden of Gethsemane when 1 Peter 2:24 says it was on the cross?

    39. Why did Bruce McConkie write that a man may commit a sin so grievous that it will place him beyond the atoning blood of Christ (Mormon Doctrine, 1979, p.93) when the Bible says that the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7)?

    40. Why does the LDS Church teach that man first existed as spirits in heaven when 1 Corinthians 15:46 says that the physical body comes before the spiritual?

    41. Since Jesus statement, “Be ye therefore perfect” (Matthew 5:48) is in the present tense, are you perfect right now? Do you expect to be perfect soon? According to Hebrews 10:14, how are we made perfect?

    42. Why do Mormons say the sticks in Ezekiel 37 represent the Bible and the Book of Mormon when Ezekiel 37:20-22 tells us that the sticks represent two nations, not two books?

    43. Why does the LDS Church teach that Jesus and Lucifer are spirit brothers when both the first chapter of John and Colossians teach that Jesus is the Creator of all things, including Lucifer?

    44. Why do worthy Mormon males hold the Aaronic priesthood since Hebrews 7:11-12 clearly teaches that it was changed and superceded by something better?

    45. If your leaders are correct about the complete falling away of the true church on earth, was Jesus in error when he said that the gates of hell would not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18)?

    General

    46. If having a physical body is necessary to become a god, how did Jesus become a god before he had a body?

    47. Do you think the LDS Church will reconsider its teachings that the American Indians are descendants of the Jewish race now that DNA evidence has proven that they are actually descendants of the Asian race?

    48. If polygamy was officially re-instituted by the Mormon Church, how would your wife feel about you taking another woman?

    49. Since the LDS Church teaches that there was a complete apostasy of the true church on earth, does that mean that the 3 living Nephites and the Apostle John went into apostasy also?

    50. Why are Mormon Temple ceremonies secret to the public when the Old Testament temple ceremonies were open to public knowledge?

  • landmineswampfox says:

First. In comparison to the Bible. The book of Mormon is a relatively new writing. Secondly. If you take an honest look at the BoM, you will see that it is a product of plagiarism. There are more than 6,000 passages in the BoM, that are word for word copied from the Bible. How can the LDS call this book a NEW testament of Jesus Christ. Paul the Apostle warned us about false testaments and preverting the truth.

You teach that God was once a human being like us. That is totally opposite of what the Bible says. Third. None of the places and societies or tribes mentioned in the BoM, have ever been located. Fourth. The honesty and integrity of Joseph Smith is abysmal. You call him a prophet, I challenge you to tell me anything that he prophesied? Fifth. He and his group were kicked out of a number of States for their polygamy practices?
Sixth. Joseph Smith was convicted in a upstate New York court for fraud and money digging schemes, and ordered to make restitution. I have a copy of the court transcripts. Seventh. Those who allegedly testified as to the truth regarding the so called Golden Plates found in Palmyra,NY, later recanted, and changed their testimony.

The list of falsifications and out right cheating go on and on.

Do the research and find out the truth about your founder.

Speaking as a fellow Mormon, I have never seen such fear-mongering, anti-Mormon docterine as preached on this channel. However, I agree with the answer that it contradicts (mis)interpretations of the Bible. These people need to remember that the Bible was not originally written in English, but in Hebrew and Greek. Some of the intent has been lost in the millenia of translation. We do use the Bible. And moreover, we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we look to Christ for the salvation of our souls. And Marysia might want to check her references. I never knew of a prophet named “John Smith”. Read the book before giving a commentary, sweetheart!

  • Rose H says:

Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormons, in his “Journal of Discourses, Vol.6,pg 3, wrote: “God himself was once as we are now and is an exalted man and sits enthroned in yonder heavens.” God was NEVER man; He is from the eternal past, the ever present, and the eternal future. To believe that He is an “exalted” man is a profane and blasphmeous statement.

In the same journal, page 5, he wrote: “And you have got to learn how to be gods yourselves…the same as all gods have done before you.” There is only one God, our creator of heaven and of earth. Man never transcends into being a god, nor have any gods existed or do exist from having been a man.

Bringham Young wrote, same journal, page 50: “He (Adam) is our father and our God…when the Virgin Mary conceived the child Jesus, the Father had begotten Him in His own likeness. He was not begotten by the Holy Spirit. And who is the Father? He is the first of the human family.” Adam is not God and God is not Adam. The premise for the whole of the Mormon religion is based on erroneous doctrine.

There other significant doctrinal differences in regard to both the person and the Deity of Jesus. I hope you will keep asking and searching for the Truth of God’s message. It is too late when we die to find that the imaginations of what He is will not save us. No amount of human logic nor reason can change who God says He is. The risk you are taking in finding the truth is not a small thing but the Lord will give you strength to apprehend it.

Mormons teach that there are latter day revelations. The Bible says, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 3)

Mormons teach that an angel gave Joseph Smith the Book of Mormon. The Bible says, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-9)

The Book of Mormon teaches that believers were called “Christians” in 73 BC. (Alma 46:15) The Bible says that the desciples were called “Christians first in Antioch”. (Acts 11:26) This was about 41 AD.

The Book of Mormon talks about the church also in Alma 46:15. According to the Book of Mormon this was about 73 BC. About 100 years later though, Jesus said “I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18). This means that the church was yet to be established in the future. (It was established shortly after Christ rose from the dead. (See Acts 2.)

Mormons call young, unmarried men “Elders”. The Bible says an Elder must be the husband of one wife (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:6) and have children that believe (1 Timothy 3:4, Titus 1:6).

The book of Mormon teaches Jesus was to be born in Jerusalem (Alma 7:10). The Bible teaches Jesus was born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:2, Matthew 2:1)

The Book of Mormon teaches that Melchizedek reigned under his father. (Alma 13:18) The Bible teaches his priesthood was without father. (Hebrews 7:3)

Mormons teach that one person can be baptized for another who has already died. Jesus taught “He that believes and is baptized shall be saved”. (Mark 16:16) “He… shall be saved”. Not he is baptized and someone else shall be saved. We will each be judged by what we have done, not on the basis of what someone else has done. (2 Cor. 5:10)

The Book of Mormon teaches that at Christ’s death, darkness covered the land for three DAYS. (3 Nephi 8:19-23) The Bible says it was three HOURS. (Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44)

Mormons teach that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith translated it into English with the help of God. On the introduction page of the copy I have, there is a statement that “some minor errors” have existed in past editions that were corrected in this publication. If it were God’s word and translated with the help of God, then how did it have any errors, no matter how “minor”?

Wow, just wow. I can’t believe how heated this line is. It seems that everyone has an answer, or at least a statement of their opinion. You’ll find that very many of them haven’t done their reasearch, and most of what they have done is someone’s webpage. How authentic is a web page I ask you? It isn’t quite a primary source. I did enjoy the long questions for mormons to think about, very good, I have to congradulate the author of those, they apparently had a lot of time to collaborate all of that, though there plain and simple answers for all of them, but I wonder if they were really looking for answers. I felt that most people on this page just wanted to argue. They threw out question after question without really wanting to know the answers, but wanted to trip people up in trying to answer them all. None of them really need to be answered really, well at least not to that person because they really didn’t want to know but wanted to confuse others.

I’ve often wondered why there was so much controversy over a subject such as this. The answer is simple really: Satan knows which church is the true one, but he works to prevent others from knowing.

I’d say more, but really I don’t think anyone here on Yahoo Answers really has ears to hear. I’ve realized this the more I come here.

  • straightup says:

It only contradicts it if you want it to. That’s the problem with religion, it’s based on faith and one can interpret the scriptures however they would like. Not taking sides, I could see how Mormons feel it jives with everything they teach and I see how non-Mormons find contradiction. That is why we should all just respect each other and not try to debase our fellow beings. Because we are talking about religion, you are never going to find empiracle evidence, but must rely on faith, and therefore there will always be those in contention.

That being said, I don’t find any contradiction.

  • Doc says:

It is easy to find contradictions between what you think the Mormon doctrine is, and what you think the Bible means.

The problem is that most people don’t know the difference between Mormon doctrine and whatever their minister says is Mormon doctrine. They don’t understand the difference between passages taken out of context, and what is really being said. They don’t understand the difference between what they were told the Bible meant, and what it actually says.

  • Pinkadot says:

All these hate-filled answers do nothing but strengthen my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and Book of Mormon.
Satan knows the church and gospel are true. He is fighting SO hard against it…why else would there be SOOOO much anti-material, slander, falsehoods, misconceptions, misunderstandings, and just down right hate? That is HIS cause, not the Lords.
Wake up people, you are doing the devil’s work for him by spreading hate and slander…

    It doesn’t contradict it

You had best not get me started on this. Hopefully I can summarize this and keep it from being a thesis I am still typing at tonight.

Bible: we are saved by grace through faith and not as a result of works. Eph 2:8-10, Titus 3:5
Book of Mormon: we are saved by grace after all that we can do.
The Book of Mormon contradicts itself on the issue of baptism. The front says one thing and the back holds the opposite position.
Mormon doctrine on the nature of God contradicts the book of John.
The Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants contradicts the Bible on the steps for salvation. The BOM and DC contradict each other!

The Bible teaches that there is level ground at the foot of the cross. The Mormon teaching is that there are at least 2 tiers based on skin color.

The previous 5 answers, before the one right before me (Buzz s), are right on, especially kcyesye (she should get the ten points). I find myself answering each question posed very easily. But just like it was previously stated, the questions about any contradictions people are more about proving rather then asking, and answering them would fall on deaf ears.

I also found the “questions to ponder” interesting, and it did make me think about a few thinks that I haven’t heard of. But the basic Mormon doctrine can easily explain each question with much more than a “it’s just that way” answer.

The Bible is not perfect as some people have suggested, and Mormons have never claimed the BoM to be perfect and 100% correct in any way (nor id it another “bible”). in fact there is one scripture that says if any errors are found it is from man. Since although God inspired protected and delivered these words; imperfect fallible men, wrote it translated it, and distributed it. It is the “most correct” book, yes. But no one ever said it did not contain errors.

The Book of Mormon doesn’t at all contradict the bible, and people who claim that it does should read both books from cover to cover!

First you must start with J .Smith and how he arrived with the b.o.m.they themselves are in question ,God always lets us know what he is going to do before he does it and in no way is there room for Smith as a prophet as for any other prophet it all is finished as Jesus said on the cross.

The Book of Mormon does contradict the Bible in many places which have all been state above so I won’t waste my time. As for the comments about hateful speech on this list of comments and opinions, I didn’t find anything offensive. However, I agree that spewing hate and slander is not following the teaching of Jesus Christ. For any followers of the Bible (and only the Bible) on this page, I submit that you be praying for those who are deceived and following a false prophet named Joseph Smith. It is clear that Mormons are searching for knowledge about the one true God (interestingly Joseph Smith taught that each member of the “godhead” is a distinct God, meaning there are three Gods at least) and they have it: fully 100% accurately in the Bible. The Book of Mormon is false because it does not line up with the Bible. You cannot simply claim that every discrepancy between the two is attributed to the “lost in translation” idea. At a certain point, you must begin to entertain the idea that the Book of Mormon and Mormonism are false. God loves all and desires for all to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Tim. 2:4), including the followers of Joseph Smith.

The Book of Mormon reveals a perverted gospel when compared to the Bible. The Book of Mormon reveals “we are saved, after all we can do” (2Nephi 25:23). The Bible reveals “by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Eph.2:8-10. Paul did not teach we are “saved, by obedience” like the Mormonism’s Third Article of Faith.
