The lecturers are polished in a manner that makes Scientology look pretty reasonable, but its only after you have been there a while, will you start to discover just how crazy the religion really is.

I’m not sure if Scientology would quality as the most sinister religion, but its got to be close to the worst.
And on that note.. I think I’ll share one of my secret reasons for becoming a critic. I write scifi, and I’ve had a heck of a time getting my books published. I was even told by one publishing house that They were resistant to accept do to possible litigation from the group which one of the ‘factions’ in my story resembled..
Now that I know they were referring to COS. I’ve decided to go after the real world manifestation of the most sinister religion of my imaginings.

Thanks for giving your perspective- the emeter is meant to give an aura of “science” to the cult. Hubbrd also peppers “dianetrics” (book 1) with the word science, evidence, experiments etc- though it’s anything but scientific!
