It is a real disappointment to see some “in the name of God”, find certain words or text and use it against the teachers loving attempt to spread the good news. I believe the Pharisees did the same with Jesus. Paul and Peter even argued amongst themselves about doctrine, but they both were on the same mission. This is why the world is turning its back on Christianity. Please wake up.

Agreed, Alot of his videos have hit me in a very specific way. Something I have come to realize is a video or teaching by is just a teaching or video, but with the holy spirit it can become a huge life changing thing. It doesn’t matter if some translation is wrong or if a specific fact about something is incorrect. If that is what your focusing on then your really missing out on the purpose of this video and the impact that it can have on your life!
Well if you thought that was a tone, I am sorry. But I did not quote it out of the book word for word because there is simply not enough text room. That is why I put the page number so one could look it up on their own. I know what I am talking about and the bible is very clear that the world was created perfect and it is now in a state that it is”deteriorating” because of sin, heading towards chaos. Not the other way around which is the belief that Rob holds, which is out right wrong.
Are you saying he used that word on page 63? You haven’t provided any context here… at all. That makes this a misquote. This is the kind of thing I’m talking about, you can’t pull one line from one page and say “he’s a blasphemer!” I’m not saying your wrong, but I’m saying you have provided 0 explanation or context as to why he used the word chaos and how that makes him wrong.
And there is no need for the tone.

misquotes really? hmm what about on page 63 found in Sex God? Rob states that the world was created in chaos.. wow really.. hmm lets look at that hebrew word he uses.. tohu va vohu. first he uses the wrong word, it is really tohu va bohu.. look it up. He tries to pull it out of Genesis 1:2 but of course he couldn’t tell you that cause that only makes too much sense. He uses it wrong, it doesn’t translate as “wild and waste” it translates directly, “formless and empty” God sad he created …
Rob Bell is anointed. He could, if he wanted, spout out scripture verse upon scripture verse, but that is what every other preacher is doing right now. This entire teaching is also supported in the Book of Acts 16: 32-34. Rob Bell doesn’t need to connect the dots for me, I can connect my own dots. His teachings aren’t for Christians who are still being fed the milk of the word, but for those who prefer meat. I love Rob Bell’s teachings – they are probes like the writings of Marshal McCluhan.
Many people are so busy they do not know what to do with God’s grace given through Jesus and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Let’s put away our shells.

I like how the only thing this “bible teacher” quotes is a danish philosopher.
I know there is a huge text limit which I’m sure is why you didn’t provide examples, but please do provide examples as to why a lot of what bell preaches is false.
In terms of the Jewish traditions he goes back to, he would be accurate if you are talking about the post-prophet, post temple tradition. In rome in that day, there were three sects – pre-prophet temple hounds, the saducees, the post prophet talmudic hounds pharisees, and the ascetic post-prophet essenes.

woot good for you. Yea, I read the velvet elvis when it came out and loved it, it made everything make sense in a way I’d never seen before. Then I read all this Rob Bell hate speach, and every single thing I’ve ever read against rob bell is a bunch of mis-quotes, purposeful misunderstandings, and general taking to extremes.
He doesn’t spout out any “false doctorines” as far as I have seen, based on reading velvet elvis and sex god, along with listening to sermons and nooma.

I’m not counting Bell as a revolutionary, but consider Luther during his own day. That man was hated and considered a blasphemer. His doctrine was considered out of order. I don’t agree with alot of Bell’s philosophies and interpretations of scripture, but I do know that he has caused me to look at some things and realize I’ve been brain washed by the church. I believe thinking for yourself is a gift that many don’t use. They allow their pastor to take care of all the heavy thinking.
All because you use Hebrew and Greek in your writings does not mean you are accurate. Bell has a pension for using post-temple Hebrew tradition to inform his understanding of Jesus and the NT authors, which is not accurate. Bell has a lot of issues with his theology that most postmoderns are not willing to consider or are not informed enough to consider. Take some serious time in learning from the scriptures, first, then supplement w/ a good systematic theology book by Grudem or Erickson.
