    in the syriac orthodox churches they speak aramaic in different dialects, but you learn the older one like in these hymnes.

    oh is Ma’loula where they taught the actors of The Passion Of The Christ to speak Aramaic, cause my teacher said they found people who speak it in a village in Syria, so they took the actors there.

  • Arabmusicnut says:

    The Offer Aramaic once a year at Indiana University at least to when I was there but this was 20 years ago… its better if you know Hebrew first because the letters are similar. Aramaic is still spoken in a village in Syria called Ma’loula as well in parts of Iraq!

  • Saweres says:

    it’s the older form of the Syriac Language, so if you want to learn it, it’s the closest form exist to the Aramaic, and I advice you to learn the classical or the western dialect, as rami said, it’s used in the Syriac Orthodox Church Mass and Prayers, and there are villages that speaks it, they are more lucky than us the Copts :)

  • rami0iraq says:

    CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE THE @$%%$^$ CAN I LEARN ARAMAIC? WHENEVER I ASK FOR IT THEY SAY IT’S A DEAD LANGUAGE THEY DON’T TEACH IT ANYMORE!!! so I ‘m starting hebrew next semester cause it’s the closest language to Christ. one question, is Aramaic the language taught to priests and nuns in the middle-east? is it the Serieny?

  • AjaxArena says:

    The translation is kinda “logical”, since this is the Aramean version of Ave Maria, or Hail Mary. That means, this is the translation, starting at 1:27:

    Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
    blessed art thou amongst women,
    and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
    Holy Mary, Mother of God,
    pray for us sinners now
    and at the hour of our death.
    Amen.

    At 2:36 you hear “Saloy, saloy, saloy glofain”. This means “pray, pray, pray for us”

  • 1heart1heart says:
