I have heard some people call Adolph Hitler a “good Christian” or a “good catholic”. I wonder if they are actually serious, or if they are just trying to instigate hostilities?
Jesus said “By their works you shall know them.” I don’t care how many pious speeches a man makes, or how many times he walks into a religious building, or how much money he gives to “charity”: a butcher is still a butcher. Are people really fooled by the whitewash? Does walking into a church make you a christian? If so, then does walking into a MacDonalds make you a hamburger?

Looking at the biblical account it seems to be the case. And, in some contexts, the word “Protestant” seems to be used rather disparagingly. Is it a “double whammy” to be a Protestant Christian?
Damon – Obviously… However, among non-believers, which pretty much encompasses every one who does not believe the bible, was the term used in a derogatory fashion. I am not asking what believers called themselves.

Atheists are so eager to attribute the inquisition, the crusades and Hitler’s atrocities to Christians because the perpetrators said they were Christians. Would atheists believe someone if they said they were a Mack Truck or a Penguin?

Catholics follow Christ, so they are Christian.
Protestants are also Christian, but they are not Catholic.
The rest of your question seems to be a rant, and insulting to atheists, so I’m not going to answer it.

these types of Protestants seem to be thinking they have a monopoly over the word “Christian” and that they ARE Christianity. it’s so absurd.

“Christian” or the Christian religion includes Catholics and Protestants. Both are Christians.

I attend a non-denominational Church, because I believe titles like “Protestant”, “Catholic”, “Evangelist”, etc produce an elitist mentality(which was never in God’s plan), and the bottom line is believing in Christ.
“Petty rumors” is what the Pope stated on Easter Sunday, if I am correct.
The massive scope of child molestation that has happened over such a long period of time, in so many countries almost makes one believe that the church has become a pedophiles club, given card Blanche’, and for the Pope to marginalize this issue will ultimately be his downfall, and make’s the Catholic church looks dysfunctional in it’s denial at the problem, at best.
Man bastardizes God…not the other way around! So please don’t lump the bad into the whole lot of people who actually believe in God. Even in the Bible, it is stated that their are wolves amongst the sheep, pretending to do God’s work.

Nah; it’s only the xian-mozlim alliance that uses the four main tools of teh scam.
FEAR, LIES, GUILT and DECEIT are all part of the Standard Operating Procedures handbook of the xian-mozlim salesman.
This is not surprising as the whole scam is built on exactly that.
