What was the name of the Secret group John the Baptist was part of?
A question from a reader: I once watched a program on discovery or the history channel (it was probably “mysteries of the bible” but I am not completely sure) a number of years ago and it talked in detail about Jesus and John the Baptist and that John the Baptist either headed or was part of a secret religious sect. A group of radicals if you will, I have searched on line for information of this supposed group but can find no reference to it. Does anyone know of this group?

In The Book, The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are, Alan Watts has suggested that we humans may become nothing more than replicas. Replicas made of plastic and steel, electrodes, and computer chips. Nearly every organ of the human body can be replaced: heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, limbs, even the human face. Can a brain transplant be far behind?
Cloning of animals has been successful. How long before a human being is cloned? It doesn’t end there. Robert Edwards, the British pioneer in test-tube babies, has indicated that it will not be too far into the future that patients will be able to regenerate their own hearts, lungs, livers, and kidneys.
Desmond Morris in his The Human Zoo has suggested we have become captive animals and have become so by our own volition. Such captivity results in the loss of privacy, of freedom, restriction on travel, and income. Cell phones can be used to track an individual, GPS systems can be used to locate a person, new scanning devices can see through one’s clothing. Such a captivity creates new psychological issues. Alvin Toffler’s Future Shock has arrived.
C. S. Lewis concurs that the human as we now know it will be abolished as each generation exerts its control over the next generation. Any new power gained by man also becomes a power over mankind as well. With the genetic engineering going on, prenatal conditioning, a mass educational system enforced by a mass media complex based on a deepened psychology of human behavior modification, man will finally have gained control. But what are they? Lewis calls them artifacts. Man’s final conquest will have proven to be The Abolition of Man.
