What bible version does the average southern baptist church prefer/use?

A question from a reader: What bible version does the average southern baptist church prefer/use? I know all bible versions have the same message with slightly different wordings. I’m just wondering what the average southern baptist church uses. Thanks.

  • Daniel S says:

depends; if theyre an old-time preacher, the KJV will be all they use, no matter what.

Newer, younger pastors may use any, but the NLT and NKJV, and NIV are the most common among them

I’d guess that the NIV and KJV are the most commonly used. However, it might be the HCSB, which is a product of the Southern Baptist Convention and is one of the 5 top-selling English Bibles in the U.S. It’s also one of the best conservative evangelical translations around – better than the ESV or NKJV in my opinion.
