Lucifer is Latin, meaning Light Bearer just as Christopher (the pher corresponding to the fer, just different transliteration rules in effect when word came into English) means ‘Christ bearer’.

Lucifer is a Latin word meaning “light bringer.” To Christians it is another name of Satan. But the true meaning of Lucifer is “Morning Star” which is the Planet Venus at early dawn. The Bible refers Lucifer to the king of Babylon in Isaiah 14:12 in the KJV.
